First Magazine Fall 2024

F1RST | Fall 2024 25 Q: What is one piece of advice for people if they do not visit the Pioneer Shop often? A: ALICIA: We try to constantly change out the items, designs, and colors we carry so there is always something new in the store, so check back often. Secondly, if you see something you like, grab it - it might not be there the next time you stop in! JULIE: Stop in so I can show you something new you can’t live without. Q: What is one word that comes to mind when you think of your role on campus? A: ALICIA: Pride. We help students and alums show their Carroll pride, incoming students proudly show off their next big adventure and families show pride for their students and their accomplishments. Over this past year, my staff has shown great pride in shaping the store and merchandise selection now that we are Carroll-owned and operated. JULIE: Goodwill. I make an effort daily to impact the lives of everyone I come into contact with. That is literally my life motto. Q: What is one thing about you that surprises most people? A: ALICIA: I have worked in higher education for more than half of my life. I started as a student worker in a campus bookstore JULIE: I owned my own retail shop in Madison for 20 years before meeting my husband and moving to Waukesha. When you’re on campus, stop by the Pioneer Shop and meet these two! Please note that hours change depending on the time of year.
